"IN the Edinburgh version of the Dunkirk spirit, public relations company Pokadot went ahead with a networking meeting in west end-style bar Sygn on Monday night despite the rioting outside, stations and bars closed and the radio describing the city centre as a no-go area. Organisers of the evening guessed correctly that men in masks and flaming milk bottles would not keep the city's fashionistas from their bubbly.

With stylish staff modelling jewellery and the police checking in every 10 minutes, one of the guests arrived at the door dressed as an anarchist after being on the protest. She had popped in to say she would be slightly late as she needed to dash home to change, then arrived later looking as though butter wouldn't melt. "
